Supplemental Outreach Initiatives
- Neuhoff Summer Media Camp
This annual program featured 20 students attending camp the week of June 19th, 2017 at the Danville Area Community College. The program focused on young people interested in careers in the media field in general, but with an emphasis on radio, television broadcasting and writing. Members of the Neuhoff staff conduct hands on training in announcing, interviewing, reporting and public relations. In its 21th year, the Summer Media Camp is responsible for a number of current or past staff members.
- Career Outreach – Student Management Leadership Retreat
On Thursday, August 4th, 2106 Neuhoff Media provided the keynote speaker for the annual Student Management Leadership Retreat at the University of Indianapolis. The retreat was attended by over 20 students who are currently enrolled in Radio, TV or Digital focused curriculum at UIndy. Instruction was provided on career pathways in our company, insights into employment strategies and necessary skill sets for successful applicants at Neuhoff Media.
- Career Outreach – NABEF Media Sales Institute
The VP-Sales represented Neuhoff Media at the Media Sales Institute at Illinois State University on April 4th, 2017. The group included approximately 100 students who heard about careers in broadcasting and opportunities within our company. We participated on a panel as well as conducted individual meetings with audience members.
- Career Outreach – Sangamon CEO
On Ocober 13, 2016 VP of Sales for Neuhoff Media spoke to the Sangamon CEO (an entrepreneur program for high school students) class of 2016 about radio and career pathways.
- Job Fair – National Radio Show
VP/Sales made a formal presentation on employment opportunities in broadcasting. Candidates were presented with information about career opportunities in all facets of our company from sales, on-air, digital, and engineering.
- Media Sales Institute Task Force
October 21, 2016 VP of Sales for Neuhoff sat on the Media Sales Institute Task Force where they developed curriculum and program structure for the Institute targeting graduates with the goal of getting them to enter the media industry.
- Internship Program
During the summer of 2017, Neuhoff Media Springfield hosted two interns in our programming department on WXAJ-FM, and WFMB-FM.
- International Broadcasters SESAC Scholarship
NFLP participated along with the International Broadcasters Idea Bank in soliciting applications for a $7500 scholarship for students in the broadcasting field of study.
- Listing of each upper-level category opening in a job bank or newsletter of media trade groups whose membership includes substantial participation of women and minorities
Every fulltime upper-level opening filled during the reporting period was publicized through the Job Bank of the Illinois Broadcasters Association, a media trade group with substantial membership participation of women and minorities.
