It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with the constant notifications, conversations and other distractions that are so present in our lives. Then add in not getting work done and that’s a recipe for disaster!
Elaine Lui started “microscheduling” in 2013. She wakes up between 4:30-5:30 a.m. Lui’s average day is planned in 10-15 minute increments. The smallest time allotment is three minutes to use the restroom. She does have downtime, but only on the weekends. Monday thru Friday she keeps a rigorous schedule, which doesn’t leave much time for basic human interaction like saying “hello” to someone or making a coffee run.
But, she does keep a lot of balls in the air– she’s the co-host of an online talk show, is working on a book, writes and edits 3,000+ words a day for her website and records two podcast episodes a week.
Is microscheduling the new organizational key to success?
