The First All-Female Spacewalk

By Michelle Mitchell Mar 8, 2019 | 10:39 AM

Happy International Women’s Day! How fitting to tell this story TODAY! On March 29, NASA astronauts Anne McClain, Christina Koch, Kristen Facciol, Mary Lawrence and Jackie Kagey will lead the first EVER all-female spacewalk.

A NASA spokesperson said, “It was not orchestrated to be this way; these spacewalks were originally scheduled to take place in the fall. But, what a happy coincidence the spacewalk is now set to occur during International Women’s History Month.” (yes, we get a whole month, too!)

TAYLOR’S TAKE: Love, love, love this! Especially in today’s social and political climate, it’s so refreshing to read stories of women kickin’ butt & takin’ names. There’s no glass ceiling in space, is there?! -Taylor
