Now this is something I can get behind! The Hollywood Reporter claims Paramount is working on a prequel to the 1978 movie-musical Grease! Ya know how Danny & Sandy tell the tale of their whirlwind romance in the song “Summer Loving”? Wellll, the prequel would take a deeper dive in to what exactly happened during that summer romance.
John August, who has credits such as Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to his name, has been tapped to write the film. Apparently he has two movies coming out this year, so it could be a year or two before this baby gets rollin.
There’s no word yet if this will be a movie-musical like the original AND the sequel, but what would a Grease film be without a good soundtrack behind it?!
Fingers crossed for Joe Jonas as Danny. Whatever you do, Paramount, do NOT give me Ariana Grande as Sandy!
