Alex Trebek's Stage 4 Cancer “Near Remission”

By Michelle Mitchell May 31, 2019 | 12:28 PM

Long-time Jeopardy host, Alex Trebek, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer three months ago. Stage 4 of any kind of cancer seems like a grim diagnosis, but pancreatic cancer alone has a 9% survival rate.

Trebek is also 78-years old. Despite the odds stacked against him, he shared with People magazine that, according to doctors, the cancer is “near remission.”

Additionally, some of the tumors have shrunk by more than 50 percent after several chemotherapy treatments. “The doctors said they hadn’t seen this kind of positive result in their memory.”

Although he does have more chemotherapy to complete to be considered in full remission, he’s very hopeful.

What’s his secret to putting up such a good fight? “I told the doctors, this has to be more than just the chemo. I’ve got a couple million people out there who have expressed their good thoughts, their positive energy, and their prayers.”
