The Beverly Hills City Council approved a measure that will ban the sale of tobacco products within city limits on Tuesday. The action makes the city the first in the country to do so.
The new law will go in to effect January 1, 2021.
It was first introduced May 21, and the final vote took place yesterday, so the measure moved very quickly.
The ‘Hills already bans the sale of flavored tobacco products and smoking in certain public locations.
Beverly Hills has a population of around 35,000 people. While it’s a little surprising a town would completely ban the sale of tobacco products, then again, it is Beverly Hills, so maybe it’s not so surprising. -Taylor
