Back in 2015, Andria and Zoey Green set up a lemonade stand in East Texas. The sisters wanted to raise $100 to take their dad to Splash Kingdom for Father’s Day.
An hour later, police shut down the lemonade stand because the girls did not have a ‘peddler’s permit.’
Enter State Rep. Matt Krause.
Krause introduced Bill 234 to legalize the sale of lemonade and other non-alcoholic drinks run by minors on private property.
And, thanks to Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the bill has been signed in to law that made sidewalk ‘speakeasies’ a thing of the past:
It’s now legal for kids to sell lemonade at stands.
We had to pass a law because police shut down a kid’s lemonade stand.

The law will go in to effect September 1.
And, in case you were wondering, the girls are planning a huge lemonade stand to celebrate. -Taylor
