Did You Experience the Target Outage?

All Target stores experienced a two-hour outage because of an error made during regular system maintenance. The widespread outage happened on Saturday and then again to a handful of stores on Sunday.

I am one of the victims.

“While this was not an issue within Target’s technology system, Target was unable to process select card payments at some stores,” Target’s statement said.

I experienced the opposite. I tried to pay with cash, but instead ended up paying with a card, because the cash register was frozen.

The outage on Sunday was similar to Saturday’s, but was a different kind of technical error than Saturday’s. Many people took to social media to share their frustration.

“We never want to disappoint any guests and we’re working tirelessly to ensure these issues don’t happen again. No payment information was compromised at any time,” the statement continued.

I was present for the Sunday outage, too (What’s a weekend without multiple trips to Target?). I tried to pay at the self checkout and the entire system froze. One of the Target associates was very helpful and we made it through together.

It’s okay, Target. I still love you. -Taylor
