Panic! At The Disco Frontman Under Fire For Alleged Racial Slur

Panic! At The Disco mastermind Brendon Urie has come under fire for some comments he made on his Twitch stream last week. The 32-year-old singer has been accused of being racist after using certain phrases that many on Twitter deemed offensive to Puerto Ricans.

Urie made the comments during one of his frequent live streams on Twitch, during which he plays games, answers fan questions and makes music.

During this particular instance, Puerto Rican comedian Michael Lopriore told Urie that he was glad Urie watched Lopriore's own stream the previous night. Lapriore’s stream contained a sketch of him and his brother making fun of Puerto Rican women and their names.

Urie acknowledged the comment and said, “You ratchet ass hoes. I was trynna come up with names for y’all.” After suggesting some names, Urie continued, “That was your ratchet ass Puerto Rican names, bro. That was so funny, dude. You were killing me last night. That was great.”

A number of fans took issue with his comments, saying it wasn't appropriate for a white man to make them. Others came to Urie’s defense, saying his comments were taken completely out of context because he was quoting a comedy sketch by a Puerto Rican comedian.

This isn’t the first time Urie has stirred up controversy. Back in 2018, the frontman was called out as racist for making an analogy comparing the firing of Roseanne Barr to NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem. He was accused of comparing someone making racist comments to players protesting police brutality.
