MICKEY GUYTON released her song Black Like Me yesterday.

She co-wrote it but it’s definitely her story.  Here’s the opening verse:  “Little kid in a small town . . . I did my best just to fit in . . . Broke my heart on the playground, when they said I was different.”

Then it moves to the present, and the sad reality we’re in:  “Now, I’m all grown up and nothin’ has changed.  Yeah, it’s still the same.”  But to her credit, she ends it with her head held high and this declaration:  “And I’m proud to be black like me.”
