The Black Lives Matter movement has much bigger ambitions than adjusting the casting on animated shows . . . but even the little things can make a difference.

Mike Henry, who’s white, has stepped back from voicing Cleveland Brown, one of the few Black characters on “Family Guy”.  There’s no word on who will be replacing him.

He said, quote, “It’s been an honor to play Cleveland on ‘Family Guy’ for 20 years.  I love this character, but persons of color should play characters of color.  Therefore, I will be stepping down from the role.”

And on Friday, “The Simpsons” announced that they’ll no longer use white actors to play characters of color, and will re-cast those already voicing characters of color.

“Moving forward, ‘The Simpsons’ will no longer have White actors voice non-White characters.”  That means changes will be coming for Carl Carlson, police officer Lou, and Dr. Hibbert, among others.

Finally, Alison Brie regrets supplying the voice for the Vietnamese American character Diane Nguyen on the Netflix series “BoJack Horseman”.  She said, quote. “I now understand that people of color should always voice people of color.”
