District 186 registration starts Tuesday, July 21.
The plan will give families a choice between fully remote learning or a blended option of remote learning and in-person learning.
All students will be given either a laptop or a tablet at the beginning of the school year.
LEARNING OPTIONS
During registration, parents will be able to choose between a hybrid/blended model, which includes in-person and remote learning, or a fully remote learning model.
All students must register online. The district asks that families finish registration by Friday, July 31.
Once registration is complete and enrollment numbers for in-person learning are set, each student’s in-person learning schedule will be determined based on social distancing requirements.
Attendance will be monitored in both methods. Students may be considered absent or truant if they do not attend or participate.
Students enrolled in the remote learning program will remain in this program through the end of the first semester, which is Dec. 18.
TECHNOLOGY
All students in grades K-12 will receive a tablet or laptop.
Pre-K students will have access to technology as needed and if they are participating in remote learning.
Additionally, hotspots will be given to students without internet access.
FACE COVERINGS
The new look for students and staff this fall will be face masks.
All students and staff will be required to wear face masks at school and on school buses.
A cloth face mask will be provided to all staff and students.
If a student or staff member forgets their mask, a disposable one will be provided.
DAILY SCREENINGS
All students will undergo temperature checks and screened for symptoms.
Staff members will be required to self-screen and let the district know each day that they’ve completed their screening.
Students riding the bus to school will also be screened.
If a student has symptoms they will either be returned to their family or masked and quarantined until they arrive at school.
WELLNESS CHECKS
District 186 will also make wellness checks a regular part of students’ routine. The district hopes these wellness checks will provide support for the physical, social, emotional, behavioral, and academic well-being of students.
SOCIAL DISTANCING & GROUP LIMITS
Social distancing of at least 6 feet will be required.
Groups will be limited to 50 people in a single space. This includes buses.
District 186 says breakfast and lunch delivery must be different due to the size limit.
