AMC will reopen more than 100 movie theaters on August 20th . . . and to celebrate, they’re offering “movies in 2020 at 1920 prices” on Opening Day. So, each ticket will cost just 15 CENTS.
Why 1920? It’s actually NOT a reference to the last pandemic, the 1918 Spanish flu. It’s to commemorate the company’s centennial . . . AMC Theatres was founded 100 years ago in Kansas City.
The 100 theaters is roughly one-sixth of AMC’s locations. Around 300 additional AMC locations are expected to open over the following two weeks. The theaters will re-open in phases, beginning at reduced capacity.
