Late last night . . . after boycotting yesterday’s playoff games . . . NBA players held a meeting to decide whether or not to resume the season.
Nothing was decided . . . and since the talks will continue today, it’s likely that today’s scheduled playoff games are OFF.
The players conducted an informal poll, and the L.A. Lakers and L.A. Clippers voted to leave the bubble and end the season.
Also at the meeting, the NBA Players Association explained the financial implications of ending the season, including a possible lockout next year.
LeBron James said he wants the owners to be more involved and take action . . . but it’s unclear what they could do in the near future to revive the playoffs.
No one knows what to expect in the coming days . . . not just from the NBA, but from the other active sports leagues too. Pro sports teams striking in response to racial injustice is historically unprecedented.
