Someone used Google Trends data to find the horror movie that each state searched for more than any other state.
The most popular movie is “The Devil’s Backbone”, an early GUILLERMO DEL TORO film from 2001 that came out ahead in D.C., Michigan, New Jersey, and Texas.
Two movies were favored in two states: The disturbing 1932 classic “Freaks”, and a Japanese vampire movie from 2009 called “Bakjwi”. . . a.k.a. “Thirst”.
Some states kept it local, like “Jaws” in Massachusetts and “The Shining” in Colorado.
Illinois is obsessed with “The House of the Devil” ?????
And truly “embedded” horror fans will enjoy the complete rundown, because it includes some fantastic DEEP CUTS, like “Repulsion”, “Don’t Look Now”, “Night of the Comet”, “Peeping Tom”, “Island of Lost Souls”, “The Loved Ones”, “The Abominable Dr. Phibes”, “Theater of Blood”, “The Wicker Man”, “Tucker and Dale vs. Evil”, and “The Love Witch”.
