22-year-old poet AMANDA GORMAN became a sensation after reading an original poem at PRESIDENT BIDEN’s inauguration last week . . . and now, she’s headed to the Super Bowl. Although, not as a player. (???)
The NFL says Amanda will perform a new original poem during a pre-game show. Her piece will be part of a tribute to three everyday heroes who were chosen as honorary captains.
They are: Trimaine Davis, an L.A. teacher who helped secure laptops and internet for his students during remote learning.
Suzie Dorner, a nurse at the Tampa Bay General Hospital, who’s been managing the COVID-19 intensive care unit . . . and James Martin, a Marine veteran who has been helping families connect virtually through the Wounded Warrior Project.
Commissioner Roger Goodell said, quote, “Trimaine, Suzie, and James have exemplified the essence of leadership, each in their own way. We are grateful for their commitment and proud to share their stories.”
