Online ordering and casually perusing the aisles at a store, impulse purchases are too easy to make. The average American makes 12 of them a year according to a new survey.

Those purchases average out to $276 a month, up from the average of $183 a month last year. The average person in the survey said they felt happy after an impulse purchase.

What are we impulse buying the most?

  • Food/groceries (48%) [We’re guessing snacks]
  • Household items (42%)
  • Clothing (40%)
  • Coffee (33%) [Probably one while shopping]
