In May, when Lil Nas X had a wardrobe malfunction on Saturday Night Live, that wasn’t his only embarrassment of the night.
He told New York Times Magazine that he was feeling pretty confident about his performance and sent a message to someone working the show that night… and asked them out.
Lil Nas said that person “respectfully knocked that shot out of the air.”
Though they were apparently super flattered, they revealed that they already had a boyfriend, so Lil Nas X was left respecting their honesty, but also feeling bummed.
Noting that “a lot” of people just “throw themselves” at him, he said, “I was like, ‘Damn, you’re that loyal? I love it. You forget sometimes that people are, like, really loyal, and it’s like, I want to do that.”
He said the polite,” no thanks” was a hit to his ego. According to the Times, Lil Nas left the SNL afterparty and promptly gave himself a mirror pep talk in his hotel room about his great performance.
He didn’t give up the name of who he asked out.
