The Emmy Nominees Are Out, and Sadie Sink from “Stranger Things” Got Snubbed!

The Emmy nominees were announced yesterday, and HBO’s “Succession” led the pack with 25 nods.  Apple’s “Ted Lasso” and HBO’s “The White Lotus” are tied for second with 20 each.

“Squid Game” picked up 14 nominations, including Best Drama Series.  Several cast members got acting nods, too.

Chadwick Boseman got a posthumous nod for Marvel’s “What If . . .?”  So did Jessica Walter for “Archer”, and Norm Macdonald for “Nothing Special”.

“Stranger Things” got nominated for Best Drama Series, but no actors were recognized.  That feels like a major injustice, given the stellar work that Sadie Sink put in as Max this season.

Selena Gomez also got left out, even though “Only Murders in the Building” is up for Best Comedy Series, and both Steve Martin and Martin Short were nominated.

Speaking of snubs, “Yellowstone” came away with NOTHING.  And in their final seasons, “Black-ish” and “This Is Us” were locked out of everything but the technical categories, and came away with three total nominations between them.

“Bridgerton”“1883”“Moon Knight”“Pachinko”, and “Gaslit”. . . starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn. . . were also absent from the major categories.

Dave Chappelle’s controversial Netflix special “The Closer”got two nominations . . . one for Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), and one for the director.

“The Emmys” will air live on September 19th on both NBC and Peacock.
