Feeling blue about not being partnered up during the holidays? Turn off the Hallmark movies and focus on some of the positives of being single for the season.
Relationship expert Jana Hocking came up with a list of the good stuff about being unattached this time of year, such as:
You can knock back a few drinks without guilt. While your married relatives are frantically chasing after their kids and cleaning up their discarded toy boxes, you can pop the champagne cork and watch it all, amused. Then you get to go home to a nice, quiet house.
Your bank account, baby! Unlike your friends who are putting money aside to fill their kids’ stockings, you’re enjoying your income with weekly manicures and fun nights out.
Fewer arguments. Christmas can bring out the worst in all of us. Instead of trying to simmer down the burning flames of rage directed at your partner over a lousy gift, you can stay blissed out knowing that while others are screaming at each other on the way to Mom’s house, you’re on your third mimosa.
And if Aunt Karen won’t stop asking you why you’re flying solo, Hocking offers some new and different replies, like:
- “Why are you still married?”
- “I’ve devoted my life to cats.”
- “I’m not taking questions at this time, thank you.”
- “Why have one flavor when you can try them all?”
- “All my boyfriends are already married.”
