She announced it on Instagram yesterday, as well as the return of the original writer, Kevin Williamson…. Neve Campbell is returning to the “Scream” franchise for the upcoming, seventh installment, after skipping the sixth due to a salary dispute
Kevin wrote the screenplay for the first, second, and fourth movies, but this time he’s stepping in as the director. He replaces Christopher Landon.
Neve says, quote, “My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen . . .
“I’ve dreamt for many years of how amazing it would be to make one of these movies with Kevin . . . This was his baby and it’s his brilliant mind that dreamt up this world . . . To the amazing ‘Scream’ fans, I hope you are as excited as I am.”
This is the first positive news for “Scream 7” in months. Melissa Barrera was fired in November for Pro-Palestine social media posts, and Jenna Ortega dropped out shortly after.
