The bestselling volcano disaster thriller Eruption by Michael Crichton and James Patterson will be adapted into a feature film. The novel was just released last week, and immediately topped bestseller lists. The heart-pounding story is set in Hawaii and is the culmination of Crichton’s extensive research before his death. The film is expected to continue the legacy of Crichton, best known for works like Jurassic Park and ER, with Patterson and others producing. Directors Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai, known for their work on the documentary Free Solo and the critically-acclaimed Nyad, will make their narrative debut with this project. (ET)
