According to reports by TMZ, a judge has agreed to drop the DWI charge against Justin Timberlake, in exchange for him pleading guilty to the lesser offense of Driving While Ability Impaired. Timberlake will be required to pay a fine ranging between $300 to $500, which will be determined by a judge during his upcoming hearing on Friday (September 13). The singer’s drivers license will remain suspended in New York, which is an automatic penalty following his refusal to take a breathalyzer test during his DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, Long Island on June 18th. The maximum jail term for Timberlake’s lesser offense of Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol is 15 days, instead of the one year maximum sentence for DWI. DWAI by Alcohol also carries with it a mandatory drivers license suspension of only 90 days, compared to a suspension of at least six months for DWI. (Consequence of Sound)
