On March 1, 2025, AgeLinc‘s Mardi Gras Masquerade Gala was held at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, bringing together the Central Illinois community for a night of celebration and support. Hosted by John Spalding of Woodward Community Media, known for his show New Country Mornings on 104.5 WFMB, the event marked its fourth successful year.

AgeLinc, the Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland, serves a wide range of counties in Central Illinois, offering essential programs for seniors and LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages. These services address needs that are not widely available elsewhere. CEO Carolyn Austin expressed her gratitude, stating, “It is always a pleasure to welcome the Central Illinois community each year to our Mardi Gras Gala, and the awareness and funding raised will go a long way in helping our fellow citizens.”

Founded in 1974 as a result of the Older Americans Act, AgeLinc is dedicated to helping older adults maintain dignity, health, and independent living. The organization funds transportation and nutrition programs, assists with applying for discount license plates and bus passes, helps with Medicare Part D enrollment, provides educational opportunities, and supports caregivers and LGBTQ+ seniors.

AgeLinc’s services are free, though they have eligibility requirements. Governed by a Board of Directors and assisted by an Advisory Council, AgeLinc serves the following central Illinois counties: Cass, Christian, Greene, Jersey, Logan, Macoupin, Mason, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Sangamon, and Scott. As one of more than 650 Area Agencies across the nation and one of 13 in Illinois, AgeLinc continues to make a significant impact in the community.
