Five arrested in Springfield last Thursday, including three juveniles, after guns were found in search of vehicle

Springfield Police stopped a vehicle in the 1800 block of east Cedar Street in reference to an ongoing investigation.

All five passengers were detained by police, and ultimately three firearms were recovered to include a loaded Springfield Armory pistol, Sharps Brothers .223 AR pistol with a loaded magazine and a round in the chamber, and a loaded Smith and Wesson that had been reported stolen.

All five occupants were arrested, including three juveniles who were transported to the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Center and two adults who were taken to the Sangamon County Jail.

Arrestee names are being withheld at this time as the investigation continues; WMAY will have more on this story as more emerges.
