Springfield is set to open a first-of-its-kind innovation in Enos Park, one that aims for a greater measure of communal and social inclusion in the midst of nature.
The Grand Opening of the Wheelchair Accessible Garden at the Enos Park Neighborhood Gardens (EPNG) is set to be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 10 a.m. sharp.
Studies have shown that gardening can help with mental and physical health, and can relieve stress as well.
For those in the community with questions, there will be a number of individuals speaking at the opening. Carey Smith, Garden Manager; Jason Baker, EPNG Board President; Sharon Brown, Executive Director of Kumler Outreach Ministries and EPNG Board Vice President; and Lauren Baker, the EPNIA Board President are all set to explain the importance and significance of the wheelchair accessible garden.
The EPNG notes that they realize that potential inclement weather is a possibility for Tuesday afternoon, but are hopeful that this outdoor event will be able to take place Tuesday morning, as has been scheduled.
