Roger Daltry and Peter Townsend of the rock band the Who perform onstage at Madison Square Garden in New York July 16. The legendary band opened the first of six sold out shows in New York City.
If you’ve never seen The Who, but it’s on your bucket list, you have ONE MORE CHANCE. Because they announced their FAREWELL North American Tour yesterday.
The Song Is Over North American Tour will kick off August 16th in Sunrise, Florida.
Roger Daltrey says, quote, “To me, America has always been great. The cultural differences had a huge impact on me, this was the land of the possible.
“It’s not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been. Thanks for being there for us and look forward to seeing you one last time.”
Pete Townshend adds, quote, “This tour will be about fond memories, love and laughter. Make sure you join in.”
The Who were actually innovators when it came to the “farewell tour”. They launched one all the way back in 1982. But Pete says it was a cash grab by their manager, and he never should have gone along with it.
Pete turns 80 later this month. Roger is 81.
