CWLP announces crews out across Springfield dealing with power outages after storm front struck city late Friday afternoon

City Water Light and Power announced on early Friday evening that crews are responding to a number of power outages with the severe storm front that came through the Springfield area late this afternoon, damaging some poles and bringing power lines down.

CWLP noted that outages were at 1,600 customers after 3:30 p.m.

Outages are currently around 1,000 customers across multiple outage locations.

The two largest areas impacted include over 400 customers in the Harvard Park neighborhood area and over 400 in an area from S Pope Street/S 23rd Street to Dirksen Parkway between E. Cook Street and Laurel Street.   

The utility stated that crew work would continue to repair infrastructure and restore power to all customers as quickly and safely as possible.


Major areas affected currently include:

• 416 From E Laurel to E Cook between S 23rd/S Pope and S Dirksen

• 412 Harvard Park Neighborhood, from E. Stanford to E Ash between S 4th and S 11th

• 111 from S 8th and S 6th from Iles Park to S Grand (this outage area will expand temporarily due to repair work to be underway soon)

• 38 in the Cabbage Patch area around E Cottonwood and Chalmers

• 39 from W Ash to Cherry between S Park and Bates

• 19 S MacArthur and S State N of Outer Park

• And a number of small pockets of 12 or fewer customers in areas scattered around the city.
