Central Illinois remains under a tornado watch until 8:00 PM CDT as rain, wind and thunder all batter Springfield, Sangamon County and beyond.
Although tornado sirens were wailing across the city as of 2:42 PM CDT, the National Weather Service declared at 2:33 PM that:
“THE TORNADO WARNING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL MENARD AND NORTHWESTERN SANGAMON COUNTIES IS CANCELLED…The storm which prompted the warning has moved out of the area. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled. A tornado warning remains in effect for a separate cell further south just north of Curran.”
Updates were also made as per the surrounding area and the weather in those communities.
