Sangamon County and local courts on Tuesday unveil a new courtroom designed to more efficiently handle high-volume calls

Officials from Sangamon County and the local courts on Tuesday unveiled a new courtroom designed to more efficiently handle high-volume calls.

The courtroom is part of the overall renovations of the Sangamon County Building on Ninth Street.

Chief Judge Ryan Cadagin said the first-floor courtroom was designed to better accommodate busy dockets:

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Lisa Holder White said the new courtroom follows a commitment to serving citizens:

Although the new courtroom will primarily be used for traffic court, the first official action in the court immediately following the ceremony was an adoption.
