Severe storms traveled through central Illinois at midday Wednesday, with some of the heaviest damage occurring in the Jacksonville area.
Mayor Andy Ezard said the west side of the city sustained the heaviest damage, including damaged roofs and downed trees. The storm substantially damaged Future Champions Sports Complex
on Jacksonville’s west side. The storms knocked out power to about 11-thousand customers in Morgan County and hundreds more throughout the region, although utilities show nearly all power has been restored.
The National Weather Service in Lincoln plans to send two storm survey teams today, one focused on Jacksonville and to the northeast and another focused between Bloomington and Champaign.
