On Monday (July 7), Fall Out Boy‘s founding guitarist Joe Trohman announced that he will be taking a hiatus from the band’s 2025 tour in order to undergo hand surgery. “After years of managing ongoing issues with my right hand, it’s become clear that I need surgery to avoid permanent damage. Unfortunately, this means I’ll have to take the rest of the year off from playing with the band,” wrote Trohman. The guitarist went on to share that he is “on track for a full recovery,” while assuring fans that “the band will still be playing all scheduled shows.” This isn’t Trohman’s first hiatus from the band, having previously stepped away in 2023 to focus on his mental health. Fall Out Boy – now featuring Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, and Andy Hurly – is set to perform at various festivals throughout the summer, including appearances at Calgary’s Cowboys Music Festival on July 8 , the Minnesota Yacht Club fest on July 19, and Oceans Calling in Ocean City, Maryland, on September 28.
