The first of the “ComEd Four” has been sentenced to a year-and-a-half in prison for his role in bribing ex-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. Capitol News Illinois reports John Hooker, a former executive at electric utility Commonwealth Edison, was convicted in 2023 along with his co-defendants, who are also scheduled to be sentenced in the coming weeks. A jury found Hooker, along with three other former ComEd execs and lobbyists, gave jobs and contracts to Madigan allies in an effort to push legislation backed by the utility. The former speaker was convicted in February, and sentenced last month to seven-and-a-half years in prison
