A 17-year-old from Wales has been accused of planning a knife attack at Oasis‘ first reunion gig in Cardiff on July 5, allegedly inspired by a 2024 attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class that left three young girls dead. The teenage boy reportedly researched potential targets, including his school and a nearby dance studio, while also seeking to acquire a large knife online. He also expressed admiration online for the perpetrator of the previous attack, while saving an al-Qaeda training manual on his phone. The suspect was ultimately charged with possession of a document useful for terrorism rather than planning a terrorist attack, since he did not espouse an ideology that fit the legal definition of terrorism in the U.K. The teenager has admitted to the charges, and a sentencing date has yet to be set.
