If you describe someone as “old” . . . what age would that be: Someone in their 80s or 90s? Someone in their 70s? 60s? Even 50s? Well, it depends who you ask.
A new survey asked people, “At what age do you think someone officially becomes ‘old’?” And 22% of Gen Z’ers say you’re over the hill at the age of 35. That includes 6% who say you’re old at 30, and 3% who say it’s 27.
The oldest members of Gen Z are around 28 . . . so maybe they’re already spotting some gray hairs.
The older you get, the later people define “old.” Only 15% of Millennials consider a 35-year-old to be “old.” They didn’t ask older adults.
Here are some other stats from the survey:
1. 51% of Gen Z’ers and 62% Millennials say “declining health” is their #1 age-related fear. The second-biggest concern for Gen Z’ers is “not achieving enough.” The second-biggest concern for Millennials is “financial insecurity.”
2. 47% of Gen Z’ers cringe at those who party regularly into their 30s.
3. 49% of Millennials judge those over 30 for living with their parents.
4. 30% of Gen Z’ers and 29% of Millennials believe they’ve “peaked too early.”
5. 73% of both are optimistic that “their best years are ahead of them.”
6. 63% of Gen Z’ers and 50% of Millennials admit to “measuring their achievements against CELEBRITIES.”
7. 38% of Gen Z’ers have already given up on “becoming famous.” 33% of Millennials already think it’s too late for them to change careers.
8. 9% of Gen Z’ers think people stop having sex at 40.
