Illinois is joining another multi-state lawsuit against the Trump administration, this time challenging restrictions on gender-affirming care.
Capitol News Illinois reports the lawsuit seeks to block an executive order banning gender-affirming care for people under age 19. It also attempts to prevent the U.S. Department of Justice from filing criminal charges against doctors who provide care.
Multiple Illinois health care providers have stopped providing gender-affirming care to comply with the federal guidelines. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul declined to say whether health care providers should continue providing care while a judge considers the lawsuit.
