The Springfield School District 186 board and the district’s teachers’ union have formally approved a new two-year contract.
The Springfield Education Association ratified the contract on Tuesday before the District 186 approved the agreement during a Tuesday evening special session.
The contract includes a four-percent base salary increase in the first year for certified staff. Superintendent Jennifer Gill said the cost to the district will be about 5.6 million dollars. The past three-year contract was set to expire this month. Bargaining on a new contract began in January.
