Initial filings for unemployment in Illinois rose last week over the previous week according to the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday.
Nearly 10,000 new jobless claims were filed in the week ending August 23rd, up about 600 from the previous week.
Unemployment claims in the U.S. dropped during the week by about 5,000 to 229,000.
