Lincoln Park in Springfield is set to get an extensive makeover thanks to a $600,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The Springfield Park District says it plans to use the funds to make the park more inclusive for individuals with various disabilities.
New features will include a state-of-the-art playground designed to accommodate children with disabilities, new picnic shelters, brighter LED lighting, and improved pathways throughout the park.
The Park District hopes to have some of the features ready by next spring.
