Initial filings for unemployment in Illinois rose last week compared to the previous week according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
New jobless claims increased to nearly 11,300 in the week ending August 30, up about 400 from a week earlier.
Unemployment claims nationwide during that week rose by about 8,000 to 237,000.
