The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum opens a new exhibit today that uses special technologies to improve access to artifacts that were previously considered too delicate for frequent exhibition.
The new exhibit is titled “Lincoln: A Life and Legacy that Defined a Nation.” Items in the exhibit will rotate out early next year. Artifacts currently on display include a handwritten copy of President Lincoln’s first inaugural address; a Medal of Honor awarded to a Black soldier in the Civil War; an original wartime recruitment handbill; and the final axe the president ever used.
A second exhibition dedicated to the Constitution and Lincoln’s impact on the United States will follow later in 2026.
