Springfield Police are conducting a homicide investigation in connection to a shooting incident early Monday morning.
According to authorities Springfield Police Officers responded to a residence at 5:47 a.m. for a possible shooting in the 1200 block of East Kansas Street. During the course of the investigation, an adult male victim was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. An adult male suspect was identified, and taken into custody on unrelated charges.
The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available. The victim’s identity will be released by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office
