Chevelle’s Pete And Sam Loeffler Reveal They Haven’t Spoken To Brother And Ex-Bandmate Joe In 20 Years

In a new interview on The Garza Podcast, hosted by Suicide Silence guitarist Chris Garza, Chevelle’s Pete and Sam Loeffler revealed that they have not spoken to their former bandmate and brother Joe Loeffler in 20 years following his 2005 exit from the band. Chevelle began as a family trio in 1995 in the Chicago suburb of Grayslake, and their split was brought about by constant tension, including Joe’s resistance to criticism and frequent threats to quit the band. “It was a battle every time we started a tour,” Pete recalled. “But it was not sustainable. We started out as three brothers, but we couldn’t do it for very long.” Despite coming from a large family of seven siblings with mostly good relations, the Loefflers remain estranged from Joe, who claimed he was fired without discussion, while Pete and Sam cited “irreconcilable differences.” Since Joe’s departure, Chevelle has continued successfully, releasing seven studio albums, including their latest, Bright as Blasphemy, earlier this year.
