Members of the public pressed the Springfield City Council during Tuesday’s meeting for stronger action against targeted hate speech.
Last week, news broke that a city employee received a suspension for up to thirty days after they reportedly used a severe racial epithet against a co-worker.
Corporation Council Greg Moredock confirmed that the suspension was in accordance with city code. Members of the City Council observed that racial tensions are high in the city, state, and across the country, and urged colleagues to come together towards solutions.
