Illinois youth deer hunters have set a new record for the season as the preliminary numbers have them totaling 4,714 deer from Oct. 11-13.
This marks an increase from the 4,097 deer taken during the same season in 2024. Sangamon County accounted for 42 deer.
Youth hunters with an unfilled, valid youth deer permit will have another opportunity to hunt during the upcoming firearm deer seasons on Nov. 21-23 and Dec. 4-7.
