Downtown Springfield: A Gem For The Holidays

Sometimes downtown Springfield gets a bad rap—and honestly, I’m not sure why. My wife and I live nearby, and we spend a lot of time enjoying the amazing local businesses. Most days, it’s peaceful and welcoming, and when there’s an event happening, the energy is electric in the best way.

This past Saturday, we decided to take a stroll downtown and soak in everything going on. Our first stop was Schlee’s, a brand-new bakery, coffee shop, and wine bar. It’s got a cozy vibe and a menu that makes it hard to choose just one thing. Whether you’re grabbing a pastry or sipping a glass of wine, it’s a great place to start your day.

Next, we wandered into Whimsy Tea Company, which is perfectly named. Walking in feels like stepping back in time—warm lighting, vintage decor, and shelves full of unique teas. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and savor the moment.

After that, we headed to the Old Capitol Farmers Market, which is always a highlight. The vendors are incredible—local produce, handmade goods, fresh flowers, and more. If you haven’t been, you’re definitely missing out. It’s one of those places that makes you feel connected to the community.

As we move into the holiday season, downtown Springfield really comes alive. From festive lights to seasonal markets and boutique shopping, there’s so much to enjoy. You can stay up to date with all the happenings at wnns.com.

So this year, make it a point to explore downtown. Support the local businesses, discover new favorites, and enjoy the charm that’s right in our backyard. There are so many boutiques to choose from—each with its own personality and treasures waiting to be found.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season—and happy shopping!
