Harmon Decision on Campaign Fundraising Case to Wait Until November

By Greg Halbleib Oct 22, 2025 | 5:16 AM

A decision on whether Senate President Don Harmon’s campaign must pay a nearly 10-million-dollar fine will wait until November.

Capitol News Illinois reports the board was deadlocked along party lines on Tuesday about whether or not Harmon violated state fundraising laws.

Harmon is appealing the fine for allegedly raising unlimited amounts of money outside of the 2024 primary election cycle.

Harmon’s attorney argues the Senate president was not on the ballot in 2024 and should be allowed to raise unlimited amounts through the 2026 election when his seat is next up for reelection.
