Local gasoline prices increased over the past day to an average of $3.20 for a gallon of regular fuel according to Triple-A.
The agency says although the average price is seven cents higher than yesterday and 11 cents higher than a week ago, the price is the same as one year ago.
The average price in Illinois is $3.25. GasBuddy said trade tensions have kept oil prices under pressure, and a small fire at the large BP refinery in Whiting, Indiana boosted wholesale prices sharply in the Great Lakes region.
