State Senator Sally Turner says downstate Illinoisans should not have to provide a bailout to Chicago-area transit systems.
The Beason Republican told Patrick Pfingsten on WMAY’s PM Springfield that a proposal to implement a state tax on deliveries to be funneled toward the Regional Transportation Authority will affect people who may never use Chicago-area public transportation.
RTA’s deficit is expected to reach 230 million dollars this year and could climb to 890 million dollars by 2028.
