Springfield Police report a man is dead after a shooting early Saturday morning.
On November 1, 2025 at approximately 12:56 AM, SPD officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 400 block of E Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male down with a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical care was provided to the victim on scene, and shortly thereafter he was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Later Saturday morning, the SPD Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene. Their investigation remains ongoing; additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
